For the Week of March 19th
Week Six

MONDAY: NAHUM
Read Nahum 1:7 & 15

We will all experience difficult things because we live in a broken, sinful world. Nineveh fell back into wickedness after the revival led by Jonah. Nahum lived in difficult days when Nineveh threatened Judah with high taxes and military force. God revealed Himself as the Rescuer of those who trust in Him. He rescued Judah. And He will rescue you. "The Lord is good" (Nah. 1:7).

+ In what circumstance or situation do you need God to be your refuge?

+ How can you be a person who brings good news of peace to others?

Prayer: Pray for the war-torn countries of Africa and the Middle East.

TUESDAY: ZEPHANIAH
Read Zephaniah 1:17-2:3

God used Zephaniah to warn Jerusalem that judgment was coming. This happened in 605 B.C. when the Babylonians captured the city. The Bible gives similar warnings about a future day when Jesus will return. Are you living out Zephaniah 2:3 as you prepare for that day?

+ The Bible teaches that the return of Christ and a day of judgment is approaching. How should that affect your life choices?

Prayer: Pray that God's Spirit would reveal any spiritual complacency so you will make the most of every opportunity.

WEDNESDAY: JEREMIAH
Read Jeremiah 1:6-8

God uses young people! Jeremiah offered, "I am only a child" (Jer. 1:6) as an excuse for not serving, but the Lord made him a great prophet. Teenagers know when something is fake; God was angry with fake believers and used Jeremiah to call them out. But teenagers can also get sidetracked, forget their devotion to Jesus, and look for satisfaction in other things.

+ What are some "good things" in your life that crowd out the "God things"?

Prayer: Pray for your friends to keep their passion for God as the first priority in their lives.

THURSDAY: HABAKKUK
Read Habakkuk 3:1-2 & 19

Do you want to see miracles in the world today? Habakkuk asked for God's power 2,600 years ago. God is Sovereign, which means Supreme Ruler above all things. Our connection with God in Christ gives us strength; "he enables me to go on the heights" (Hab. 1:19) in the walk with Him.

+ Write a declaration of God's fame. What has He done that makes Him famous?

Prayer: Praise God for being Sovereign.

FRIDAY: LAMENTATIONS
Read Lamentations 3:19-26

The wailing and crying at a funeral are a "lament," and Lamentations is Jeremiah crying over Jerusalem's destruction. Yet, in the most difficult times, we have hope because "his compassions never fail" (Lam. 3:22) and God's mercy is new each day. When you feel overwhelmed, wait for the Spirit to fill you with His love.

+ Make a two-column list. On one side, list things that are hard to deal with. On the other, list ways God's love brings you hope.

Prayer: Praise God for His qualities: hope, love, compassion, mercy, salvation, and goodness.

Romans 15:5-6 (NIV)
